The Time Is Now

Well, it is the Monday after Easter. This weekend I received multiple notifications that the Unimaginable Faith site traffic was higher than usual. I’m assuming people were expecting to find a Good Friday post, and then an Easter post. Or something of the sort. But that was not the case, and that was intentional. This past weekend, from Good Friday through Easter, we were flooded with reminders. Videos shared of S.M. Lockridge’s “It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Coming”. Pictures spread across social media of families getting together for Easter service or celebrating the day in different ways. We saw images of crosses, bunnies, eggs, and even tombs. Easter is a great time of celebration for so many. And it should be. We are celebrating the resurrection of our savior. The one who sacrificed his life to give us new life. It is a definite cause for celebration.
Then…… We wake up Monday morning. The cleaning has mostly been completed from whatever get together we were at on Sunday. Those of us in ministry may find that our feet are sore and our legs are recovering from additional services that were held. The build up from the week before is over. Many churches provide their staff with the day off on Monday which is well received, as Easter Sunday can be exhausting behind the scenes. But church staff or not, the coming days and weeks are crucial. What we do moving forward out of Easter can be representative of our overall character. As a staff, do we take the next few weeks lightly, as almost a break from the overload of work that has just been completed, or do we muscle onward in excitement for the life we are blessed to lead.
As christians period, do we press onward, reminding ourselves daily that each morning we have a reason to celebrate that same resurrection. That the events that we celebrate and remind ourselves of on Good Friday and Easter are equally important the Monday morning after.
Over the course of the last several months we have begun to see an uprising. I’m in the camp of people that believe a very serious move of the Spirit is taking place in our nation. Every 40 or 50 years we see a pull back in what society views as okay and how far we are willing to let things go. In response to that pull back many are left questioning what they believe. They are looking for an answer only Christ can provide. That pull back is beginning to take root. Churches that acknowledge that this move of the Spirit is occurring are digging their roots deep for what is ahead. People are flocking to where the spirit is moving. We are seeing organizations across the country impacting their regions in bigger and bigger ways. People are becoming more and more responsive to the gospel message.
So I have intentionally waited to post this message until today, the Monday following Easter because I believe, The Time is Now. The time is now to talk to our neighbors about what we believe. The time is now to reach out to that relative that might question what is different about our lives. The time is now to be unashamed of the gospel. The time is now to walk firmly in our faith. The time is now to understand that the resurrection power is just as important today on Monday, and tomorrow on Tuesday, as it was on Easter Sunday.
I encourage each of you to take hold of this moment in your life. Decide today that in this moment you will walk unashamed of the God who has given to us so freely. Decide that it is time to wake up from a lukewarm existence. Decide that today is just as important as yesterday and it is a new beginning.
The Time is NOW!
"For I am not ashamed of this good news about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes" (Romans 1:16 NLT)
"For God says, At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation I helped you. Indeed the right time is now. Today is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2 NLT)
